We are currently working on Sequence of events in a story using passages and chapters in small guided groups and whole group lessons. Please continue to work with your child at home so that the information being learned in school is also being reinforced at home for better understanding.
In ELA we are currently discussing and practicing how to use Proper and Common Nouns as a part of the eight parts of speech. Student assessments are very diverse in which each student's learning style will be show cased. We will have quick question checks that will involve answering the essential question(s) of the day or week.
Students will also be given in class performance tasks where they will need to create an illustration, story, game, or comic strip etc.
Students are always reviewing previous skills in small group rotations and whole group review. This is important because they need to see how each skill helps to build on other skills. Students are learning to read the right way for continuous achievement and development to comprehend and understand the purpose of each skill.
Students will be starting this process on Monday. Please ask your child what are they working in reading/ELA class to ensure they have a full understanding and purpose for what they are learning in class weekly.
